Dr. Kokal is a board certified surgeon. He has published over 25 peer review articles. He did both his medical school and general surgery residency at Loyola medical school in Maywood Illinois. He subsequently did two fellowships in surgery. The first fellowship was at the Royal Victorian Infirmary in Newcastle England. This was followed by a two-year surgical oncology fellowship at the medical College of Virginia. He then accepted an associate professor of surgery position at the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte California.

 

In 1990, Dr.Kokal moved to Southwest Florida to continue his surgical career. In 2016, his interest turned to wound care and wound reconstruction. He has been an innovator in the clinical use of biologic products in wound healing. Dr. Kokal was one of the first in the country to utilize skin graft substitutes in the treatment of an autoimmune skin disease,pemphus vulgaris.

 

Dr.Kokal  recently has joined the Velo Med Spa team. He plans to continue to use biologic products such as Alloclae, a biologic filler, in the treatment of soft tissue defects, such as breast deformities following implant removal. He will also be involved in breast and buttock enhancement utilizing  biofillers. Dr Kokal and his wife presently reside in southwest Florida with their two Chihuahuas. His interests outside of medicine are wine and sporting clays.
